Alunê takes over the beachfront home once occupied by W Bali — Seminyak‘s long-running Woobar, a spot that helped make W Bali a fixture of the Seminyak social scene. Alunê keeps that address but arrives with a whole new identity, one built entirely around the movement of the ocean and the slow theatre of a Bali sunset.

The name is a quiet clue to the whole concept. Alunê draws on the Indonesian word alunan, meaning the steady rhythm of waves or the flow of a melody, and lune, the French word for moon. Put together, they point to a place shaped by the sea, by Bali’s easy sociability, and by the daily shift from bright afternoon to warm, music-filled night.
The chic beach club was designed by WELD, a collaborative architecture and multi-disciplinary design studio based in Bali, which took the beach itself as the starting point. Because W Bali — Seminyak faces southwest, the club looks straight out at the sun as it drops into the Indian Ocean, and the colours, textures and lighting throughout are tuned to follow that same arc, cool and bright by day, amber and glowing by dusk.
COASTAL DINING AT ALUNÊ WITH A CHEF’S TOUCH
The menu at Alunê pushes past the usual beach-club shorthand toward something more considered, built on fresh seafood and premium produce. A lobster roll layers lobster and spring onion with ikura in a brioche bun, while the catch-of-the-day sashimi changes with the freshest local fish and arrives with ponzu, chilli oil and lime.
For something lighter, the Signature Frozen Bowls are as photogenic as they are wholesome, each colour drawn from the venue’s own palette. There is Blue Tide with blue spirulina, coconut milk, coconut yoghurt and lime; Golden Hour with mango, pineapple, ginger and turmeric; Green Garden with matcha, spinach, avocado and mint; Purple Power with açaí, dragon fruit and banana; and Ruby Bloom with strawberry, beetroot and raspberry.

As afternoon tips into evening, Alunê moves into its nightly Sunset Ritual, a golden-hour program of cocktails, live sound and shifting light over the water. The drinks list leans inventive: the Ivory Tide is a creamy pour of vodka, almond milk cordial, orgeat, elderflower and cream, while the Solaris Spritz builds on pomelo-and-thyme-infused gin with elderflower, vermouth, cranberry, lime and rose water.
There is real thought in the alcohol-free offering too, six wellness-minded mocktails named Calm, Balance, Vitality, Ease, Immunity and Glow, each leaning on ingredients like pandan, chamomile, galangal and holy basil rather than simply mimicking a cocktail.
