Combining elegance with contemporary custom design, Earthborne by Design has transformed a dated Kangaroo Point apartment with a much-needed interior update and renovation.
Having previously collaborated with designer Paul Coulson from Earthborne by Design on two other investment properties, the new owners of this Kangaroo Point apartment knew exactly who to turn to when transforming their 27-year-old abode into a sophisticated haven, fit for modern city living.
With an open brief in hand for a contemporary style incorporating timber floors and natural stone elements, Earthborne by Design, with builder C&K Concepts, embarked on a full-scale renovation to bring their client’s vision to life
The first step was to open up the space by changing the layout, including moving the master bedroom door through the walk-in wardrobe to create a more balanced living area. This strategic alteration allowed for a seamless flow throughout the apartment.
“Undoubtedly, the fully integrated kitchen is the focal point of the revamped apartment,” says Paul. “We worked closely with Allfit Cabinet Solutions to create a sublime new cooking zone. The bespoke Polytec joinery, paired with Lorde White natural marble sourced from CDK Stone for the benchtops and splashback, infuses the kitchen with a touch of sophistication, while the modern cabinet hardware from Lo & Co adds the perfect finishing touch.”
To establish a timeless yet contemporary foundation for the apartment, Paul chose GrandOak Herringbone timber flooring. This classic French-style parquetry adds a touch of elegance to every room, seamlessly tying together the overall aesthetic.
In the living room, the custom Polytec joinery by Allfit Cabinet Solutions extends to the new entertainment unit, offering a cohesive look throughout the space. “To complement the interior’s understated elegance, we selected the Erskine Sofa from Cosh Living. Its clean lines and plush comfort perfectly complement the tranquil atmosphere,” Paul adds. “The Cumulus Pearl Gold Persian knot rug from The Rug Establishment, with its richness of gold, pearl, soft browns, and silver, also adds a touch of luxury to the open-plan living area.”
The master bedroom suite designed by Earthborne by Design continues the theme of classic yet contemporary elegance. The renovated ensuite bathroom, featuring custom cabinetry from the Australian-made ISSY by Zuster range, GROHE tapware, and Italian porcelain tiles, is a testament to the attention to detail in this renovation project — every aspect of the master bedroom suite exudes luxury and chic comfort.
Elevating the apartment’s style and functionality, Earthborne by Design has brought their client’s dreams to life through innovative and thoughtful design.
“Renovating an apartment often comes with its fair share of challenges, especially when it comes to limited opportunities to move services and logistics,” Paul acknowledges of the hurdles faced during this transformational process. This included meeting building by-law requirements for acoustic ratings on the timber flooring. “However, with perseverance and expertise, we’ve successfully delivered a significant transformation that incorporates a harmonious blend of modern design elements and high-quality materials with timeless style.”
