Award-winning residential builder, Coral Homes, has undergone a modern makeover of late. Their exciting new range of home designs, The Modern Collection, is both stylish and functional.

The largest new display home of the Coral Homes collection is located at Paradise Lakes Estate in Willawong, Queensland and is a lesson in bold, contemporary design, featuring an inviting, graphic façade, that is unmistakably modern.

Coral Homes National Design and Display Manager, Angela Haughton, says the combination of finishes on the exterior showcases boldness and simplicity working in tandem.

“The Atlanta 48 is a dramatic structure big on cement render, slimline brick and vertical cladding, taking its bearings from modernist traditions that has recently cycled back into fashion,” says Angela.

A mix of masonry render colours by Dulux including Grey Pebble, Casper White and Oatmeal grey also feature on the façade. Creating an intentional contrast to the render is the beautiful detail of Axon vertical groove cladding by James Hardie. Painted in Domino, it complements the window frames on the upper storey.

“Ultimately, the mix of materials is designed to draw the eye in, creating interest with the juxtaposition of colour and texture,” says Angela.

“The impressive exterior of Atlanta 48 by Coral Homes needed to have an equally impressive floorplan with multiple living areas, generous proportions and complementary textural finishes.”

Internally, the Willawong display has a stylish simplicity that creates a tension between the rectilinear forms and the organic use of finishes such as timber cabinetry, concrete and stone finishes to tiles and benchtops and dramatic, textural wallpapers that play against the striking venetian plaster feature wall that can be sighted from the entry.

As you enter the Atlanta 48 residence by Coral Homes, the natural light has a particular dynamism that contrasts with the walls and floors leading you through the main area of the home.

The interior is styled using plush wool rugs, velvets, leather and linens, timbers, metal finishes and stone to furniture and accessories.

“The main objective was to create a sense of occasion and glamour in this bold home from Coral Homes. And we achieved this through luxurious monochrome finishes punctuated with colour, texture and black accents,” says Angela.

Neutral colours were chosen for the walls, flooring and ceilings to let the furniture and hard and soft finishes take centre stage with pops of terracotta and navy. Stone and timber-look wallpapers add a subtle textural element to the pared-back canvas of the spaces.

Attention to detail can be seen in square cornices in the entry and to the main living area within the kitchen, which helps streamline the look of the custom black cabinetry.

Further detail can be seen in the Tongue n Groove European Oak dark timber flooring which adds a hint of texture to the floors of the entry and media room. This same material is also echoed in a feature wall in the luxurious master bedroom.

The open-plan layout to this home was designed to cater to busy families, providing separate living zones and private areas to retreat to.

On the lower level, the extensive kitchen features a walk-in pantry, while a separate cellar is housed in glass in the entry. The dining area flows onto the expansive family room and living area, which is split with a custom Venetian plaster-finished wall encasing TV cabinetry. This combined massive open-plan area spills effortlessly onto the outdoor living space, for the ultimate in entertaining.

“The heart of the home showcases a beautiful Caesarstone benchtop in Rugged Concrete which has a dialogue with the kitchen splashback in the same finish,” Angela explains. “The Laminex kitchen cabinetry is finished in bold matte black timber grain and punctuated with black metal drawer handles for added glamour and to subtly integrate with the cabinets.  State-of-the-art matte black mixer taps by Reece in the kitchen, featuring special hot and cold functions, give another moody nod to the space.”

The streamlined kitchen showcases dark-coloured Smeg kitchen appliances including oven, cooktop induction and statement rangehood to blend with the cabinetry and provide a luxurious and accessible environment for the home chef to thrive.
