Housed within a former timber mill in the inner-north suburb of Albion, the sprawling new Craft’d Grounds includes a patisserie, fromagerie, restaurant, wine and cocktail bar, coffee roastery, brewery and craft bottle shop. A fresh farmers market is also in the pipeline, along with a street art laneway and a live music venue. Celebrating local flavours and makers, Craft’d Grounds promises a deliciously authentic experience in an interactive, open-plan space.

But first, coffee. That’s right, one of Australia’s leading specialty coffee roasters, Seven Miles, is among the first to take up residence here, and their brand new flagship headquarters has just opened its doors to the public as of this week! The Sydney-based brand has created an eye-catching new roastery featuring ceiling-high glass walls so you can catch the bean whisperers in action – perhaps conjuring up their velvety Brisbane-made roast, The Cat’s Pyjamas.

From the ceiling-high glass walls and open seating plan to a dedicated training spaces for masterclasses and public cuppings and barista-art competitions, the Seven Miles HQ is all set to be a lively, immersive, and fully transparent experience.

This front-row seat is sure to delight industry pros and caffeine fiends alike, and Seven Miles’ dedication to the whole process, from bean to barista, is a perfect fit for the Craft’d Grounds artisan ethos.

Visitors will also be able to raise a glass at craft beer brewery and bar Brewtide when it opens very soon. With a commitment to local ingredients and artfully constructed, highly quaffable drops, the space will be helmed by local brewer Gavin Croft and will offer a behind-the-scenes vibe for visitors.

Brewtide will also lend a hand to other crafty souls by sharing their space in a practice known as ‘gypsy brewing’, and including a seasonal rotation of guest brews as part of the 20-tap offering.

“The best thing about the brewing community in Australia is we’re passionate about supporting each other,” says Gavin Croft. “And Craft’d Grounds, being a home for makers, is here to support this.”

The new destination has Brisbane at its heart, as Craft’d Grounds co-founder James Rennell explains. “It’s about defining our own experience and supporting local artisans and those in our industry at the grassroots,” he says. “It fits in with our ambition to create something for Brisbane that’s humble and gives an appreciation and experience of everything handcrafted, including coffee, beer, modern comfort food, all ‘made for Brisbane’ – and importantly, a chance to slow down, discover and leave everyone who comes with a story to share.”

Keep an eye on Craft’d Grounds Instagram or Facebook pages for the official opening date — and in the meantime, be sure to get along to visit Seven Miles there for a cup of The Cat’s Pyjamas, stat!
