The Dulux Colour Forecast 2027 is the work of the Dulux Colour Team, guided by Colour and Design Manager Lauren Treloar and Colour Marketing Lead Lilybet Holt, and it rests on a year of research rather than a hunch. Since 1999, it has been a fixture on the desks of designers, architects and homeowners looking for where things are headed, informed by international design shows, Milan Design Week, and trend research drawn from Dulux‘s networks across the UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
What emerges is a portrait of how we feel, as much as what we buy. As Holt puts it, the more technologically sophisticated our lives become, the more disconnected many of us feel, and the palettes push back against that digital sameness, reaching for interiors that feel personal and deeply human. Running through all three, Treloar notes, is a return to softened yellow-greens and to blues carrying grey and purple undertones, colours that ground us, lifted by bright berry and cherry accents used sparingly, like punctuation.

Play is the most exuberant of the three Dulux Colour Forecast 2027 palettes, bringing vibrant energy back into our rooms. It takes its cues from analogue pleasures, music and games and the charm of imperfect moments, revelling in modular design and the tactile appeal of asymmetry. The colours are soft but spirited: muted lilacs such as Stately Frills, calming blues like Powder Blue Half, spearmint greens including Catnap, and zesty accents in Temptress and Baca Berry. Paired with contemporary timbers and playful patterns, Play builds interiors where spontaneity is the point, a nod to the beauty of living with life’s imperfections rather than against them.

Threaded with Japanese influence and conscious craftsmanship, its warm neutrals and tactile surfaces are deeply intentional. Treloar describes layered greens such as Field Maple and Moorland, warm neutrals like Buttercookie and Humble Fawn, and near-black browns including Dark Cocoa and Sweet Chocolate for depth and serenity.
