The owner\’s main priority when going to Darren James Interiors for the renovation of this Main Beach apartment was to open up the layout and create a more coastal luxe vibe. They wanted a beautiful and cohesive, chic space that could fully capture the amazing water views beyond, and where they could entertain friends and family in style and comfort.
Drawing on a timeless colour palette of grey, white and black with touches of plum and turquoise, the mood is sleek and sophisticated, sexy but subtle. The use of quality materials has been effectively balanced to achieve a glamorous and trendy look – an attention to detail that comes to the forefront in the kitchen, the centrepiece to the apartment. Here, the layout and functionality were significantly improved by some clever structural changes, including the installation of a sleek, one level bulkhead allowing for a completely new lighting layout and creating a more seamless transition from the kitchen to the rest of the apartment.
The new kitchen is every keen cook’s dream, complete with high-end appliances, marble-clad rangehood, honed Indian jet black granite dining table top and Calacatta marble island bench top to take the whole look to a new level of luxury.
The master bedroom is accessed through a spacious walk-through wardrobe and has been designed as a sumptuous retreat, complete with a contemporary take on baroque-style feature wallpaper and plenty of metallic and mirrored accents to up the elegance.

Although the owners love the look of polished concrete floors it wasn’t possible to have them in the apartment due to body corporate requirements to have like for like flooring. Darren James Interiors remedied this with a creative solution, laying large 3M tiles coloured in a grey wash finish to create the illusion of concrete. They also give an almost seamless look, given larger tiles have considerably fewer joints than smaller tiles.
