Nyria King from Palm Interiors lent her talented eye and superb taste to this home’s sophisticated interior after a serendipitous meeting with her client. “We first met when I had a short stint working in a retail store selling furniture, wallpapers, fabrics and homewares,” says the interior designer of the day their paths crossed. “We always talk about that day and our instant connection – she even hugged me on the spot after talking through some wallpapers and fabrics, from the relief that she had finally found someone she could work with so easily. We have since become great friends, both personally and professionally. This home is the third project I have assisted this lovely couple with.”
The homeowners already had some lovely furniture pieces that both the designer and her clients were keen to keep in the new interior design. Nyria set to work designing a fresh new floorplan that would showcase these existing pieces, while adding in some freshly curated showstoppers.
“Palm Interiors came into this project to assist with the repositioning of everything into the right rooms, culling what wasn’t working and adding the right furniture and decor pieces to the mix,” explains Nyria of the design process. “We have updated the upholstery on their existing lounge and armchairs, as well as refinishing their timber frames, and introduced several new pieces to give the home’s living spaces a finished and balanced look.”

Nyria also chose fresh soft furnishings, artwork, lamps and accessory items to bring the whole look together – and the result is pure perfection.
“Having such a lovely base to work with is always a wonderful starting point for any interior designer – this home already had beautiful mouldings, and the scale was fabulous to work with,” the designer adds. “It really helped set the tone and enabled me to continue the Hamptons theme throughout, especially with the soft furnishings and accent pieces.”
Nyria has a wealth of suppliers and sources on the Palm Interiors books to call on when curating their clients homes. “Both myself and my fellow designer at Palm Interiors, Kylie Mann, feel that it is so important to listen to our clients and give them what they are asking for, and we always source from our suppliers accordingly. After all, they are the people who are going to be living and using these spaces every day. Sometimes clients are very clear about what they want, while others don’t necessarily know how to put it into words. It’s our job as interior designers to figure it out for them.”
Her favourite space in this beautiful redesign? For Nyria, it’s all about the den, with its classic fireplace as a centrepiece. “It gives a sense of enveloped serenity which makes you want to spend time in there to absorb it all. It’s the perfect place to curl up with a good book.”
