An award-winning and innovative Noosa house

The owners were open to the layout, knowing the project team would go above and beyond in their house design. Their only requirement was to include five bedrooms, a spa, lap pool and a large courtyard, as well as a guest house. With this in mind, Paul managed to situate almost all of the living and bedroom spaces along the riverfront, gaining outstanding views and cooling southerly breezes. The large courtyard ensured these breezes reached the living spaces whilst also creating an outdoor sanctuary for the home owners.

Paul is known for creating luxury resort-style homes that are unique and customised to ensure maximum comfort and lifestyle for each owner. This is exactly what influenced this home design and build. Utilising natural materials is also predominantly employed by Paul, in this case with elements such as limestone tiling and red iron bark timber flooring. Granite and timber bench tops were also used throughout the kitchen, along with American cherry solid and timber veneer cabinetry. “We wanted all natural materials to fit in with the high quality home and tropical lifestyle,” says Paul.

A standout feature is the curving floating stairwell, which quite literally, hangs from the roof, creating the illusion that each step is hovering. Overall, the design of the home itself is a feature, finished with curving walls, moving glass walls, floating pavilion roofs and the beautiful internal finishes.

Waterside living

Further integrating with the environment was the pool design. “There is a massive body of water which surrounds the house that comprises of ponds, a large lap pool and spa facility,” says Paul. This is a large part of the home design, with the body of water being a significant feature within the house. The pool tiles are also a glow-in-the-dark ceramic, complementing the luxurious and marine feel of the home perfectly and ensuring that the pool remains a feature through day and night.

The decor and general theming of the home fits into the environment soundly with a consistent sub-tropical environment. With the house sitting snug along the Noosa River, the style allows beautiful views throughout most of the rooms.

Taking two years to complete from design to build, the result was well worth the wait. When Paul was asked about the vision behind the design, he answered, “To create a high end, tropical, beautiful home.” Paul Clout Designs did much more than this, creating a home to not only enjoy but inspire.
