Setting the tone for a luxurious lifestyle, Sue Robbie and her team at Lux Luxury have elevated this riverfront residence with a bold, layered approach to furnishings and bespoke designer touches.
“Our client was able to visit our showroom at Bundall on the Gold Coast to see and experience first-hand what we offer in styling a home,” says Sue of the project. “They loved our range of original and exclusive fabrics, wallpaper and furniture, and how we combine natural materials like linen, leather, timber and copper with high-end design.”
Working with their client’s style, the Lux Luxury team created a rich fusion of soft furnishings, furniture, and finishes, bringing personality to every space. It’s a treasure-trove of bold and modern, classic and glam.
“We wanted each area of the home to have its own unique look while maintaining a continuity of theme throughout,” notes Sue. “Having one big open space with different levels off a step or two allowed us to create break-out areas; flowing from the central dining and lounge to chill-out zones and the outside entertainment area, which enjoys superb water views.”
All furniture was custom-designed and supplied by Interior Box Furniture, melding local craftsmanship and high-performance materials with a style-driven vibe.
Two of the most striking features are undoubtedly the draped chain chandelier that floats over the recycled teak dining table and the incredible ‘rings’ lighting installation spilling through the three-level staircase void. Both are functional pieces of art that make a delicate yet dazzling statement. “These chandeliers were a new design for us and were quite a challenge,” says Sue.
“But we think the result is really spectacular.”
Lux Luxury also specialises in timber and teak pieces and unique sculptures, with several popping up around the Hope Island home. The 10-seater dining table is a stand-out, offset by the softness of the high-backed dining chairs that are upholstered in oatmeal and gold fleck woven fabric (supplied by Natural Fibre Textiles). Bathed in the glow of the chandelier, it’s a memorable setting for stylish dinner parties and special evenings at home.
Elsewhere, contemporary artworks inject a vibrant shot of colour, with many of the original pieces created by local Queensland contemporary artist Matt Stewart.
The tailored design approach extends out onto the balcony, where Sue has created a comfortable lounge setting to entice relaxed afternoons taking in the serene water vistas. “Our client wanted to have an entertainment area that was also part of everyday living,” says Sue. “To have a dining setting that blends so beautifully with the alfresco space is so in line with the Gold Coast style of living and takes full advantage of the beautiful river aspect of the house.”
In the master bedroom, Lux Luxury has brought together a sumptuous blend of custom-designed bedding and embroidered cushions, all part of Australian-made, ready-to-wear bed couture, Zig n Dot. Linen drapes and natural cork wallpaper with metallic copper inlay deliver a suitably moody and glam backdrop to the plush scene, creating a bedroom escape worthy of a luxury abode like this.
